How To Call It
This is a function of the Version factory table itself: call it with a dot (Version.<method>(...)); no Version object is needed. An object method with the same name also exists: version:value(...).
Normalises a version string; returns the running version when none is given.

In system flow, design steps as observe first and act second when the API can affect device state.
Optional: version (omit to pass nil and use the runtime default). Returns a string.
Using this API with logging, error handling, and next-step control produces much more professional results than calling it in isolation.
The snippet below is a starter pattern that can be applied directly in runtime flow.
local result = Version.value()From foundation to combined usage, each level is provided as a separate code block so you can copy the level you need and adapt it directly.
local result = Version.value()local stepOk = true
local result = Version.value()
if stepOk then
wait(200)
endlocal ok, err = pcall(function()
local result = Version.value()
end)
if not ok then
print("API step failed: Version.value: " .. tostring(err))
requestStop()
end-- In system flow, design steps as observe first and act second when the API can affect device state.
local function run_value_step()
local result = Version.value()
end
local ok, err = pcall(run_value_step)
if not ok then
toast("Step failed")
print(err)
endlocal result = Version.value()
wait(200)
print("Combined with logging and flow control")
