Getting started

What is Macro Handler?

Macro Handler is an Android app that automates repetitive work on your phone or tablet. You build a macro from no-code blocks or write it in Lua, and it can tap and swipe for you, find images, text and colors on screen, and run on its own from triggers such as a scheduled time, an incoming notification or connecting the charger.

Where do I download Macro Handler?

Install Macro Handler from Google Play (package name com.macrohandler.app). This website links only to the official Google Play listing.

Open on Google Play (opens in a new tab)

Does Macro Handler need root?

No. Taps, swipes and screen reading go through Android's Accessibility Service and the standard screen-capture permission, so the app works on phones and tablets that are not rooted.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to build and run macros on your device. Sign in with Google when you want Premium, macro sharing or the community forum.

Permissions

Which permissions does Macro Handler need, and why?

Two are required: Display over other apps, for the floating control panel, and the Accessibility Service, which performs taps and swipes and reads the screen for detection. The setup wizard explains each one before Android settings open. Macros that read the screen also ask for Android screen-capture consent.

Free plan and Premium

Is Macro Handler free?

Yes. The free plan includes the visual builder, Lua scripting and image, text and color detection. On the free plan each macro run stops automatically after a short window of one to five minutes, and you can start it again right away. Premium removes that limit.

Compare plans

What does Premium add, and what does it cost?

Premium runs macros without the free-plan time limit and adds public macro sharing, downloads and voting, priority support, and use on up to 3 devices signed in with the same Google account. The display price is $10 per month; the final localized price and taxes are shown in Google Play before you pay.

How do I cancel Premium?

Cancel in Google Play: Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Macro Handler > Cancel. Premium stays active until the end of the current billing period.

Compatibility

Which Android versions are supported?

Macro Handler runs on phones and tablets with Android 7.0 (API 24) or later. On Android 11 and later it can also read the screen through the accessibility service instead of screen-capture consent.

Does it work in every app and game?

Macro Handler works with whatever is on screen: taps and swipes go through the Accessibility Service, and detection reads the captured screen. Screens an app protects from capture, such as banking apps or DRM video, cannot be read in either capture mode. Before you automate an app or game, check that its own terms allow it.

Acceptable use

Which languages are supported?

The app and this website are available in 14 languages. The app starts in your phone's language when it is one of them, otherwise in English; this website starts in English. You can switch either one at any time. Text recognition (OCR) covers Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Devanagari, Arabic and Cyrillic scripts.

Troubleshooting

My macro stops, or the accessibility service turns off, in the background.

This is usually the phone battery manager closing the app. Turn off battery optimization for Macro Handler and complete the manufacturer steps listed in the Permission Status card on the Dashboard, such as Auto Start on Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme and Vivo, or Never sleeping apps on Samsung. Locking the app in Recent apps also helps. On the free plan, remember that each run also stops after a short window.

Steps by phone brand

Which background settings does my phone brand need?

The Permission Status card on the Dashboard shows only the steps that match your phone's brand; Open Setting next to a step opens the screen it names, and if that screen cannot be opened, Macro Handler's app details screen opens instead. On every phone: turn off battery optimization for Macro Handler. Xiaomi and Redmi: enable Macro Handler in MIUI Security > Auto Start, and set it to no restriction in Settings > Battery > Battery Saver. Huawei and Honor: allow auto start in Phone Manager > Startup Manager, and enable manual management in Settings > Battery > App Launch. Samsung: add it to Never sleeping apps in Settings > Battery > Background usage limits. OPPO and Realme: enable it in Security Center > Auto Start. Vivo: allow it in i Manager > App Manager > Auto Start. OnePlus: enable it in Settings > Apps > Auto Launch. On these brands, also lock or keep the Macro Handler card open in the Recent apps screen.

An image, text or color is not found. What should I check?

Make sure the scan region covers the target, and capture the template at the same screen size and orientation you run the macro in. Before you change the threshold, use the Match Score Test button next to the match score field to see how close the match is. If nothing is found at all, check that screen capture is still allowed.

How do I stop a running macro immediately?

Press stop on the floating control panel, or hold the volume-down key while a macro is running to trigger an emergency stop.

Privacy and safety

Does Macro Handler upload my screen?

No. Image, text and color detection run on your device, and captured frames are not uploaded. Live screen content leaves the device only through the optional AI features (MH AI and Visual Decision steps), after you configure a provider with your own API key. A macro's template images (screen crops you captured) go with it only when you share the macro or save it to the cloud vault.

How does MH AI work, and is it safe?

MH AI is an optional assistant that drafts macros and can read and operate the screen through the app tools. It uses the cloud AI provider you choose with your own API key, every assistant step waits for your approval, and screen reads are refused on payment, delete, reset and transfer screens.
